Membership and Application

Why be a member of the KNLA?

There are many benefits that can be realized by belonging to our professional organization. The KNLA has the collective resources of its members to help new and established nurserymen enhance their business in many different facets.

By being involved with our local, state, and national governments, the KNLA insures that our industry is represented and heard on pertinent legislative matters.

If you are looking for a recommendation for an insurance agent, a system to collect your delinquent accounts, ideas to help market your products or sources for plants and products-- the KNLA stands ready to provide the information to facilitate your endeavors!

Objectives of the KNLA

ACTIVE MEMBERS shall be Kentucky firms who have been directly and primarily engaged in horticulture as a nursery, garden center, landscape architect or landscape contractor. They shall pay regular dues, have the right to one vote on all voting matters and to hold office in the Association.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS shall be individuals or firms who do not qualify for active membership but in the judgment of the Executive Committee shall pay the same dues and have all the same privileges of active members except they shall have no vote or be eligible to hold office. Generally, they should be suppliers to the nursery industry, nurseries from out of state, arboretums and public horticulture institutions.

CORPORATE OFFICE MEMBERS shall be the headquarter office of those nationwide companies with multiple outlets. The satellite outlets shall pay dues according to the current active member structure. They shall have one vote per outlet and be eligible to hold office. 

EDUCATIONAL MEMBERS shall be those that are involved in horticulture education or research with a university, high school, or county agent program. They shall have no vote or be eligible to hold office. 

STUDENT MEMBERS shall be those that are currently enrolled in a horticulture program at the high school or college level. 

HONORARY HALL OF FAME MEMBERS shall be those individuals who have performed some outstanding service in the interest of the Kentucky Nursery & Landscape Association or in the interest of horticulture and upon nomination by the Scholarships & Awards Committee may be awarded honorary membership by a majority vote of the Directors.
